  1. MFTP 1.33 update

  4. Dear users of mftp,
  5.  
  6. Sorry for the delay with 1.33 and all other inconvenience.
  7. This archive if just an update for mftp 1.32 (contains no docs and no
  8. installation tool).
  9.  
  10. PLEASE READ THE HISTORY.TXT TO CHECK WHAT HAS CHANGED !!!

  12. As mentioned above there is no installation tool so you have to install
  13. it manually which shouldn't be a problem :
  14.  
  15. 1) Copy the desired version of mftp to a directory in your path (would
  16.    be best if it's in the same as the old mftp).
  17.    Users with a 68'030 or higher can use "mftp.030" the others must
  18.    use the generic version "mftp"
  19.  
  20. 2) Copy the needed catalog files to "locale:catalogs/_language_"
  21.    (where _language_ is the name of the language)
  22.

  24. IMPORTANT: mftp 1.33 needs MUI 3.x now !!! It won't work with MUI 2.x !

  31. There is a reason for the delay in releasing 1.33... :)
  32. Currently I'm working on mftp 2.0 ! I have to rewrite the entire program
  33. but when it's finished it will offer a lot new features:
  34.  
  35. * completely object oriented MUI Application =>
  36.  
  37.   * multiple connections at the same time
  38.   * every host has its individual setup !
  39.   * drag and drop (i.g. drag and drop files from the Workbench or copy
  40.     a file DIRECTLY from one host to another - without saving it on your
  41.     amiga first !!!)
  42.   * improoved user interface
  43.   * saves memory while running
  44.   * everything will be interruptable (yes, even those requesters
  45.     which appear while building a connection ! :)
  46.  
  47. * copy directories recursively
  48. * improoved caching (faster)
  49. * config file in IFF format (changes in its structure won't
  50.   affect the user anymore)
  51. * and hopefully (!) : proxy server support !
  52.  
  53. These are all things which will appear in the NEXT release but as you
  54. can imagine it will take some time to get everything running.
  55. So don't expect a miracle :) maybe it's ready around end of february '96.
